Bioarctic's research partner Eisai has received a final recommendation from Canada's drug agency supporting public reimbursement of Leqembi (lecanemab) for eligible patients with early Alzheimer's disease. Bioarctic said in a press release.

The next step is negotiations with the Canadian drug alliance, followed by regional decisions on reimbursement.

More than 770,000 people in Canada were estimated to be living with dementia in 2025, a figure expected to increase to 1.7 million by 2050.
